How-to Maximize Storage Space and Utilize Ceiling Space
In manufacturing and warehousing we are constantly challenged with minimizing floor space, while trying to maximize storage space. For this particular case the company was selected to supply foam seat cushions for a automotive application. The process in which the foam seats were produced involved a 90 minute curing time.
The seat supplier needed a solution that would not only minimize handling during transport and curing but also store up to 2,600 parts during curing.
Pacline Conveyor Solution
We supplied 2,200 feet of the PAC-LINE™ enclosed track chain conveyor with 740 custom made parts carriers. The conveyor took advantage of the unused overhead space by being ceiling hung. It was able to move the parts to next process while effectively providing the proper curing time all while utilizing overhead space.
Our conveyor layout provided loading area at floor level which then took the foam cushions along a zig-zag path just below the ceiling, then brought them back down to be unloaded. The floor was left free of support posts or other obstacles since it was hung from the ceiling, allowing for maximum storage capacity and minimized floor space.
